The Friends Of Jesmond Dene is a charity organisation that work to preserve and protect a woodland area in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Having formed some time ago, they wanted to re-generate their image to help spread their message to a wider audience. I was approached by them to undertake a full re-branding project. I was briefed to produce a logo, website, event posters, newsletter and stationery.
The brief stated that the logo should reflect the nature and greenery
of the dene, and be flexible enough to be used across all their
platforms.
When developing the logo, I started sketching out some rough ideas.
The clients had requested a combination emblem logo, with the emphasis on
‘Jesmond Dene’. I played around with the shape, fonts and use of a simple
leaf design. The final Design, shown bottom right, came about through
feedback from the clients wanting the yew tree leaf incorporated in the logo.
As with the logo, when it came to redesigning the website, I started by sketching out a rough idea of each page. Using Adobe XD, I then built a simple mock of my design to present to the clients. The clients had used wordpress previously and were keen to be able to update the blog and events sections of the site themselves, so I used the Divi builder for Wordpress to create the final product. The website is currently live at www.jesmonddene.org.uk
