Since college, I have continued to pursue my love of photography in my own
time.
Still
working a lot with my film cameras, I am drawn to brutalist buildings
and architecture. This is Park Hill in Sheffield, an area I have visited on
a
number of
occasions and appears in a lot of my work.
I quite often carry around my film SLR when on days out with friends and family.
I
enjoy documenting those times and I still love that moment of getting films
back
after
sending them away to be developed
With all the best practice in the world, especially working with kids,
a little retouching in post production is sometimes necessary.
The first instance was a shot I took during a wedding job. The Mum was
standing in the background as the baby was only just crawling. I felt that
the image would look a lot cleaner without them, so I removed
her legs for the final print.
The second example was another wedding job I worked on that involved a
photo montage of all the wedding guests. I needed a full body shot of
each guest to be able to do create a seamless final piece. This guests
dance move had caused him to slip out of the frame, but I was able to
build the left hand side of his body.
